A seat with a view
Monday
Roger had a doctors appointment first thing, but then we got out to enjoy another sunny warm day, hiking at Bender Mountain, on the west side of the city, just north of the river. There is a stream you have to cross between the parking area and the beginning of the trail, but that was no problem today, since there was no flowing water in it today - just a big puddle a bit upstream and a smaller puddle downstream - another sign of the mini drought we are currently experiencing. It seemed quite a while since we had been up there, and it was good to be back. It’s a great time of year to do it, since with most of the leaves off the trees, you get more views of the river and Kentucky on the other side, and yet there’s still a bit of colour provided by the green undergrowth and the oak trees which hang on to their leaves for so long. There’s several benches along the ridge trail, where you can sit and enjoy the view and the sun since you are facing south. When we parked our car, we were the only car, but by the time we got back there were about another seven cars, and yet we hadn’t passed many people on the trail. When we got back home, we took our cup of tea outside and enjoyed it on the patio. We have three more days of this, then next week is much colder!
