FIKA
Thanks to Heanku for taking on the hosting on MonoMonday. It’s great fun - if a little time consuming!
The first week is FIKA and a great subject. Whether it’s on your own for some peace and quiet, or with friends to catch up on everything. It’s definitely my favourite social activity.
We went to look at a new van today just outside Huntingdon and when we had finished we googled where to go for lunch. Just down the road we found “Bohemia” and it was brilliant. Just my kind of place. Alconbury is well known as an RAF base and parts of the area are being redeveloped as a modern sustainable community.
Apparently there is a Bohemia restaurant in St Neots which is closer to home, so we will probably give that one a visit too. This newer location was also known as the Watch Office and is a grade 2 listed former Nissan hut, extended to include an operations room, teleprinter room, telephone exchange and watch tower. In May 1943 it suffered bomb damage and fell into disrepair. But look at it now! After refurbishment and restoration it’s now ensuring a sustainable future for this import piece of history.
