Rather than removing the old garage socket when he put the new cable in from the house, the next socket where the old socket was now has an extra wire emerging from it at the end of which is the old socket, acting as a sort of trailing extension lead, replacing the actual extension lead I had been using to keep the freezer frozen, which was later found, minus the plastic frame it was wound round, on the other side of the garage. Inside the house, the kitchen was a bit tidier with some more old sockets removed but also with the fridge unpowered as it was plugged into a socket which was no longer connected. Fortunately, it might only have been that way for a couple of hours, though we were back fairly late compared to usual after the children's violin lessons, my COVID booster and a -teacher meeting.
