Thatching

This is a view of the house that is having a new thatch installed.  The area of roof needing coverage is quite large, indicating how expensive is the process.  I understand that it has to be repeated every 15 to 20 years, at a pretty steep cost.

I'm glad that we discovered the cost and frequency before we tried to buy a house with thatch roof last year.  We have ended up with a conventional roof, plenty of insulation in the loft and 18 PV panels to provide solar energy in these difficult times.
