Frozen in rock

My choice today was between this simple study of the sandstone waves on the 'beach' at Maryport and any of several Roman altars, suitably inscribed, from the days when Maryport was Alauna, the Roman station guarding, along with with a string of fortlets leading north to the Roman Wall ('Hadrian's'), against sea attack from the sea between Britannia and Hibernia (Ireland). I'll be able to blip one of the altars later in the year, when I visit Cumbria again.
