Climbing the Walls

A wet weekend was on the cards but was averted at the last minute by 3 hours of sunshine this afternoon. It’s still unbelievably mild for the second week in November so that we are not yet being tested for endurance in cold houses only by water resistance outside.

It being Sunday, one of the Merry Widows and I lingered over a coffee and a share of a raspberry bun this morning. It’s possible that the time is coming when we push the boat out and have a whole bun each, but we are taking it gradually at the moment.

A friend came by late yesterday afternoon with a large bag of cooking apples. It seems she had a tree that keeps on giving and she is finding it hard to use up all the fruit.
I bought parsnips,squash and sweet potato to make as many pans as I can of spicy soup with some of the apples. All I need now is the energy to peel and chop…….maybe tomorrow ……even if procrastination is the thief of time.
