The Eiffel Tower

I’ve never been to Paris before and it’s been a long time ambition, hence my choice of destination for our little break. Stayed out from morning to night exploring Paris and most of the day at the obvious first choice stop, the Eiffel Tower. We queued for over an hour post security queue to get our tickets only for them to close access to the top just as we got to the front of the line due to heavy crowds. Disappointed was an understatement. But we made the best of the second level anyway.
Then we headed off to the Champs-Élysées and I found Dior. I’ve loved Dior since I was a teenager when for a real luxury treat I had a lipstick from the make-up counter and framed the bag with the Dior make-up model’s picture above my bedroom mirror. Recently watching Mrs Harris Goes to Paris only added to my awe. D confidently marched us in past security and to my absolute delight was so desperate for a cup of tea and a sit down and to check his work e-mails that he paid €24 for two special “Dior Blend” teabags and some hot water and I sat in heaven for a little while people watching and dreaming of being an actual Dior customer!
Then we took in the Arc De Triomphe and went for another look at the Eiffel Tower now it was lit up for the night. To our surprise there were no queues for security, tickets or the lift so out came the credit card in a flurry of excitement and off we ascended for the second time in one day. But this time to the very top! It was a windy but wonderful experience! Went to bed tired and happy!
