A relaxing day in the north. The only bit of "work" we did was taking stuff down to the tip/recycling centre. Obviously we have bins, but we had far too much stuff for the capacity of the bins in the back vestibule.... packaging, old blinds now removed, etc.... So we needed a trip to the tip. The last set of curtains can wait (as can adjusting the curtains in the sitting room slightly to make them fit the track better).
From the tip, we headed off to a craft fair in the former Logie Easter Church (which has recently been acquired by locally by a private buyer but is being made available for community initiatives). The craft fair was packed...and we acquired a few nice little pieces: some rather lovely light shades, a hand turned cedar bowl perfect for a fruit bowl, and a natty picture of a thistle which Mr A bought for me.
Thereafter we headed to ANTA, where we poked around the lovely things available to purchase (for a price) and overheard someone saying that they were selling "lifestyle". Oh yes. But lovely. Coffee and a bun completed the morning (but no ANTA purchases).
As it was raining, we returned home and hung out here for a while as the weather improved. I headed out for a walk after the sun had come out, belatedly, and I picked up a couple of ferns for the bathroom from a local garden centre. Hopefully they will feast on all the dampness....
Our afternoon was completed by a trip across the way to have tea with our local contact/acquaintance, who lives in a Georgian house with a Victorian extension. I was fascinated to see what she has done with the house, which is different in every way from our place. Her next door neighbour died recently, and the family members who have inherited that house have just discovered it needs work likely to cost more than £100k doing on it.... A facer.... I think they were planning to keep hold of the property in the family, but it seems likely they will choose to sell. In the current climate, it's hard to see them selling such a property other than at auction. It needs someone to take on as a "project". I wonder if Tain attracts that sort of buyer.
Anyway, spending time with our neighbour as ever increased our local knowledge and it was a very pleasant way to spend some time in the afternoon.
