...And So It Begins...

Yesterday I received my first Christmas card of 2022... Whaaat??? It's too early!! It is a pretty card though. Shame it has glitter on which means it can't be recycled. I've put it away until December...

Tomorrow we are going to Jeri's and she already has her house fully decked up for Christmas... I will resist Blipping her decks - two festive Blips in a row this early in November would be too much too soon!

Currently it is firework season which means Minstrel is spending a lot of time in hiding. I know his hiding place but will not let him know that I know... He chucks some of the socks and undies out of my drawer which I tend to leave open and crawls over the back of it to hidebehind/under it! Poor little kitty. My Dad said Princess was unsettled and yappier than normal too, but she doesn't hide, she sits as close to him as she can! Different cat and dog mentality.

I went to my Dad's today... I'd seen that the industrial action on the railways had been postponed but the Lincoln station was closed with a poster saying it was due to industrial action.. probably because of the lateness of the decision yesterday.

No picketers were present, but there was a reporter from Look North who interviewed me! The questions were leading in a certain direction - Had I intended taking a rail journey? How did the fact that I couldn't do so make me feel? Of course I'd intended travelling by train, yes it was inconvenient. But I did not rant about the strikes, disruption, etc. - I said I supported them and it needed to be done. This is when he cut me off quickly. I doubt my recorded interview will make the show!

Anyhow, Brian was able to drive me over to my Dad's and he was OK. He'd been sent a huge box of catheter kit from a private company. No real advice or info as to how things will proceed though.

I did some shopping for him as well as other jobs, and we watched the end of England's 20/20 game against Sri Lanka. England won - just, with two balls to spare having seen off Sri Lanka's quicker bowlers in style but struggled to score once they brought the trickier spinners on. It did not look like 20/20 cricket, though I suppose it is as good a tactic as any to attempt to win a game!

Brian fetched me home and we watched England v PNG - the first quarter final of the Rugby League World Cup. England tore away to a big lead in the first half in wet and dismal conditions. Half time  came with England 38-0 in front. The second half was much more evenly contested  however, finishing 46-6!

This evening Brian is going out. Normally I would go too, but I don't feel like it tonight. I seem to have so little time actually in our house nowadays that it would take more than a night watching a skiffle band in the local pub to tempt me out on such a cold, wet evening. I'll have a glass or two of red wine and watch some more rugby then maybe read my book or watch something I wouldn't normally get to on TV.
