River Elbe

To date, 25 blippers have contributed to our crowd-sourced online photograph album of places associated with Lorna Lloyd and her Diary of the war (previously blipped in full in the LornaL journal, and now available as a podcast series with Lorna's great-great niece playing her great-great aunt).

Today's shot of the River Elbe comes from Munroist4113. Munroist4113 is an enthusiastic supporter of the LornaLPodcast project. As well as contributing several photos to this journal (this is her sixth), Munroist4113 was one of the blippers who came to our podcast series launch event at Great Malvern Priory on 24th May 2022. She is also very well travelled. This is very helpful to the Platform to Platform project team in our quest for photographs of locations from across the world to add to this journal.

Lorna had reason to mention the River Elbe in her Diary of the war on December 18th 1939 when the British submarine Ursula sank a German cruiser at its mouth. This incident is covered in Episode 4 of our podcast series.
