We were invited to join a table at a fundraising dinner for political journalism, and it was hosted by Lord Salisbury at Hatfield House. It was certainly a very grand affair in a very grand setting.

Always amuses us driving up to places like this in our little car - the mini was dwarfed by all the others.

And if you wonder like I did, why political journalism needs a fundraiser, it’s apparently because, in times gone by, young journalists ‘cut their teeth’ in local newspapers, but the decline in local press has meant that’s now really difficult.
