Atcham Bridge

Today we had a meet up with a married pair of old friends from F's schooldays. They have kept in contact over all these years and we meet up every few months for a meal and catch up.  As they live in Sutton Coldfield we always meet in the Telford area which is about half way.

We had a lovely meal and chat before going our separate ways.  It was beautiful sunny weather and we called at Atcham on our way home.

The River Severn flows through the village and there are two bridges crossing it.  The closest one was opened in 1776 but is only wide enough for one car.  The new one was built in 1929 to accomodate two way traffic on what was then the A5.  Luckily the old one was kept and the new one can be seen through the arches.

My extra photo is from the bank, the bench looked lovely in the golden light.
