TheAvenue of Remembrance
In the village where I live there is an avenue of cherry trees planted to commemorate those from the village who died in the Second World war, together with a small memorial - 40 trees planted for each young soldier who died. I photographed the cherry blossoms a few days ago as they were coming into bloom.
I know that it is only May and not November, but what is the point of cherry trees on Remembrance Sunday, when it is winter and cold and the trees are bare of the beautiful blossoms?
The trees were planted for those departed, so I think it is best to remember them every year when the trees come into blossom, and not just on Remembrance Sunday.
