Thursday: Aftermath

As soon as I was up this morning I took a walk around the garden to have a look at the hurricane after effects.  There were a lot of trees down, some bent in half.  Lots of plant debris all over the drive and lawn.  There was no structural damage though, so that’s good.  There is now just an awful lot of clearing up to do.  The gardeners, Lee and Chippy, have made a good start but there’s still some way to go.  All in all, it could have been a lot worse.

We did think we might have our visitors for another night but we managed to dispatch them back to Belize City today.  They were OK company-wise, they just didn’t have a sense of chipping in - it just felt like we were waiting on them hand and foot.  One of them was relatively helpful and would help clear up but the other two were a bit lacking in the niceties of being guests.  They were always meant to be leaving today so we didn’t feel guilty about sending them off.
