Feed Me.....
A dry ,bright day after yesterday
A day of cattle work. Brought in 4 cows with December born calves to wean them. Shut the cows in one shed with a bull, vaccinated, wormed and clipped the 4 calves and shut them in another shed. It will be a noisy few days, but eventually they will forget about each other.
Next job was to bring in 2 lots of cows with wee calves and tag the calves. Ran them all out to the field this morning's other lot had vacated as there was still a full bale of straw needing eaten in the heck, and it is far too expensive to waste!
After a late lunch, headed down the road to move the Hereford heifers to a field behind the steading so I can hopefully bring them home tomorrow. Any other day you just have to let them see a feed bag and they would trample you to death in the rush. Not today though . Got most out the gate onto the track, but 2 wouldn't come. Went behind the 2 to try and walk them through the gate, but all the rest followed me back in instead. After a lot of buggering about, eventually got them all on the track and quickly shut the gate behind them. The next problem was that they are that petted that they wouldn't chase down the track to the other field. I really miss my old collie,as usually I would go in front with a bag of feed and she would hunt them up from behind. Hard to believe it's a year tomorrow since she was put down.
Still, got there eventually. Hopefully I can get them to come in tomorrow and get them hauled home. We shall see !
The terrier decided it was tea time by sitting at the kitchen table with his chin on the table cloth giving me meaningful looks ! Chancer.
