The end at last?
A 'record' blip. Even though the builders moved off site early this year, they never really finished off the area in front of us. They planted it up but then left it during the scorchingly dry summer so one of the trees died and the others probably only survived because I and one or two other residents watered them as best we could. The grass (which they laughingly put a sign against to say they had planted a mixture of grass and wild flowers) was a mess of overgrown weeds and the whole place looked unsightly. I complained to the builders and was assured they would return, and an informal committee of people from the development led by a fairly formidable lady have also been pestering them. This has culminated in a site visit and meeting tomorrow afternoon between the residents and managers from the builders including the Managing Director, and our local MP Duncan Baker who had got involved at the request of the residents.
I'm sure that it is entirely coincidence that this morning a gang of gardeners turned up and replaced the dead tree and other plants, mowed all of the grass, finished off the tarmac around the bollards that were replaced a couple of weeks ago, and generally tidied up the whole area. I don't think the replacement tree is a Rowan like the others but I don't think I'll worry too much about that as it all looks so much better than in the middle of last year.
