Callistemon.........

...............or Bottle Brush - looks very exotic but is frost hardy if given the protection of a South or West facing wall. They like full sun (which we have today!) and good fertile soil when they can grow up to about 12ft. The flowers look very much like a brush that was used for getting into the narrow necks of bottles to clean them though I remember, as a child, ours was used to clean down the spouts of teapots! Ours had, I think, a twisted wire handle which used to get very rusty of it wasn't dried thoroughly! I suppose that now a lot of people use teabags, the cleaning of teapot spouts had diminished somewhat!!!

It is a glorious day again and the temperature has just reached 21 deg C !!! Wonder how long it will last though!
