MITCHELL PARK CONSERVATORY
It's Wide Wednesday and the Challenge is: Structural / Geometrical
~
The Mitchell Park Conservatory (The Domes) is located in Milwaukee, WI, USA. It's a series of three geodesic domes representing plant biomes around the world. There's a TROPICAL dome, an ARID dome (where this shot was made and a SHOW dome, where the exhibit changes with the seasons.

It's a wonderful place to visit and all sorts of events are held there...the last I heard weddings were booked several years in advance.

The Tropical Dome is quite warm and humid which presents a problem for camera neophytes in the winter. As you might consider, it's quite popular in the winter time when it's very cold in Milwaukee and one gets to wander around a tropical setting where it's warm.....and at much less expense than a plane ticket to the tropics. But, bringing a cold camera into a warm and humid dome will cause all sorts of moisture condensation on your lens and, if you're foolish enough to change rolls of film in there (for you film shooters) that condensation will get into the insides of your camera as well. It might be a good idea to have a bag of rice handy to absorb the humidity.

No such problems in the ARID Dome where the humidity is low and all the desert plants reside.
~
The SHOW Dome changes several times a year with the season....Easter and Christmas shows are special and they usually have the model railroaders in there at least once a year and there's electric trains running all over the place among the various plants. Interestingly, the plants in this dome are grown in big pots so they can be moved from one place to another to accommodate the special shows.

It seems to me that this place covers both structural and geometrical facets of the challenge. Best viewed in Large.
