Kylemore fuchsias
Hand made fuchsia butter dishes from Kylemore Abbey in Connemara. We bought them in 1984, one for us and one for MountGrace’s mother. That one came back to us when she died. We were assured that they were hand painted by the Benedictine nuns who have lived at Kylemore since 1920.
According to their website, you can still buy fuchsia butter dishes at Kylemore Abbey. The range of merchandise is more varied and sophisticated than it was when we visited and I doubt whether it is made by the nuns these days. I’m glad our dishes are from simpler days.
