Birthday Boy

We drove down to Wapping first thing so we could go to Joe's 4th birthday party. His birthday was actually on the 18th, but he wanted to have it close to Halloween.

The drive down was the quietest/easiest I have ever known, none of the usual hold ups at Euston and King's Cross. The party itself was great fun. He was dressed as Frankenstein's monster. His mum and dad, and mrsfb made an effort too (extra).

In the evening we babysat as mum and dad went to see The Lancashire Hotpots. We played a game with the boys called Confident, which I won despite Rory knowing the exact height of the world's tallest building, and exactly how many stations there are on the Northern Line. The game uses erasable pens and answer boards. Joe didn't actually get that involved in answering the questions, but he was very good at the writing and erasing.

When mum and dad got home we walked 10 minutes down Wapping High Street and stayed in a lovely apartment owned by Rory's godparents D&F as they were away in their other house near Whitby. It made a very nice change from the usual Premier Inn (which are a bit of a drive away and all booked up anyway, or wanting over £200 for the night).
