The walls are up for the Barrel Maker
Yesterday and today I glued the walls together on the Barrel Maker Building. I thought I would blip the results as there are a couple of different things about this kit.
First there are several parts of the building at different heights.
The walls in front, right and left nearest to you and at right angles - nice and square. However the long back wall of the kit starts with a wide front wall at the right, and ends at an angle at the narrower wall at the back. Just to spice things up but it makes a unique building shape - to say nothing about sloping flat roofs and a hip roof for kicks.
The other detail that amazes me is that Bar Mills laser all the roof joists as several pieces that glue in the wall and the joists stick out. In N scale these are really thin and delicate - like 1/64" square by 1/8" long. Once I get the roof sheathing on, the joists will protrude just a little under the roof like the real thing. Fiddley for sure, but patience and a very thin file to make the cuts in the walls for the joists certainly helps.
Onward later today with the rood sheathing.
