Boots

A rubbish day at the desk which never seems to end.

My fresh air today was restricted to a few minutes over the back garden fence with the dogs.

What's with the boot then? This is a new introduction to my wardrobe, if that's what you keep your boots in. While they wouldn't be my first choice for hard walking on scree or rough heathery hill side they offer reasonable support and claim to be a bit water proof. They have come my way as our oldest son's cast offs. With very little mileage accumulated he is finding them already too tight. I shall get good use out of them for dogs walks on many of the low level trails we follow. Its a bit ironic that I have been making a real effort to maximise the life of my existing work / hill boots. The shop prices have nearly doubled in the last three years and I have several pairs that are about 6 tenths worn and with regular waxing still work well for me. I have recently learned that my favourite Scarpa ZG10 is no longer made and as far as I can tell its replacement is of much lower quality and isn't even manufactured in the same country.

As usual we are chasing slow payment, a real killer for small businesses, and I absolutely hate making such calls and with hindsight should be on the case earlier.

The conversation today went "Who did you send the invoice to?"
I said "To Mr X on the 10 March"
"Oh, he left the company around then. Perhaps he didn't forward to accounts. Could you send it again."

Note to self, Keep calm!

One other cheery note; according to my own records the midges will start tomorrow. It could make for an itchy day in Knoydart.
