Blackbird and Berries
Today I actually manage a proper walk around the reserve in Conwy. It’s a beautiful morning - so mild for the end of October - and for once we’re rather spoilt for choice in terms of birds. OK, the firecrest that’s apparently about doesn’t make an appearance, neither does the snipe, and I’ve long since given up on ever seeing a kingfisher here, but there are plenty of birds on the now full lagoons - in fact there’s water everywhere after the recent heavy rains - though many are too far away for decent shots.
I’m taken by the wigeons looking so colourful in the sunlight, and the iridescence of the lapwings is just beautiful. And after a summer where I’ve scarcely seen a dragonfly, I’m amazed to spot the light catching an indistinct fairy-flutter over flooded puddles that turns out to be a common darter - albeit rather blurry!
But pride of place today goes to a berry-eating blackbird, with other shots in extras.
