Hanging On

The fig season is over! The tree tries its best and I‘m happy for the few figs it gives us each year but even happier that it’s still living and gracing a corner of the allotment.
By contrast, the Jambos‘ season has a long time left to run. They also try their best and I’m happy for the few good games they give us each season but even happier that they’re still alive and kicking and gracing a corner of Gorgie.
But enough of that! Tonight it was another European match for the Jambos, this time against some mighty Latvians. Boy but they grow them tall over there, head and shoulders above our wee, undernourished home lads. An early couple of goals should have put the game to bed but instead the Hearts decided to have a nap for a while. Happily, they eventually aroused from slumber and did enough to hang on for the win - and the half million Euros that go with it! That’s enough to buy a few team duvets.
