Deep Fried Taro, With Scallop

We tried a different dim sum parlor in Silicon Valley-- a few things on the menu that we've never seen before, and it was fun to be in a new place. I'm not wild about taro, but how could you say no to this?

We took a few minutes to drive our full selves over to Rancho San Antonio County Park, a lovely stretch of public space in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It seemed to be a very popular spot, with people of all ages out for walks, a few cyclists, and a boys' sports team getting ready for some activity. It would be a good place to take a longer hike; I think the views would be amazing.
