Celebrating 200....

....years of the Chichester Ship canal, a beautiful waterway linking Chichester to the sea, the canal runs 4 miles from Chichester to the Harbour at Birdham. The canal was first opened in 1822 and there have been bicenntenary celebrations this year organised by the Chichester Ship Canal Trust. It was a lovely walk in balmy autumn weather with colourful   boats and barges and a delightful cafe serving teas and delicious cake.

I love seeing the sculptures and art work by Steve Tomlinson celebrating the wildlife of the canal. These are large wrought iron butterflies, including pikes, eels, water voles and frogs decorating the butterfly wings. I have included one of these in the extra alongside the 1820 Poyntz swing bridge. The other extra is of some of the lovely houses which line the canal.

And today is my 200th blip. How did that happen? Thank you fellow blippers for just being such nice, encouraging people. I'm loving being a blipper because of you all and it's a real privilege being able to share your fabulous photos.
