My old friend Dr T has been visiting this last few days, and we have had some good walks around Arnside and Silverdale. This afternoon we did the coastal walk around the headland, starting over the Knott, through Heathwaite, down to the coast to Park Point where this was taken and then back along the coast to the village.

This view across the Bay to Grange and Humphrey Head is always different, the light and channels are ever changing. One fixture on the coastal walk though is the presence of little egrets (there is one in this shot), and they are so common now, it is easy to forget that seeing one twenty years ago here was a real novelty.

Every day before we left home, Gus would be looking keen to join us. And this was a walk today that he and I have done many times, and he used to enjoy so much. Alas, he wouldn’t get very far with us now, his range has been reduced to a couple of hundred metres before his arthritic hips get too painful and his legs weak. So he stayed at home with C, and he was happy with that. There will soon be a Gus blip, I promise.
