Lolling in the jacuzzi*

A pair of seals were idling in the surf when I looked down from the cliff top. The offspring of last year's liaison (not necessarily with this bull) was dozing on the shingle a few yards away.
If the cow does conceive,  her pregnancy will not commence for a few months yet. Delayed implantation of the ovum ensures that the mother has time to regain weight and strength before the embryo starts to develop.

Checking the spelling of jacuzzi I learnt this:

Jacuzzi Brothers was founded in 1915 by seven Italian brothers to make wooden propellers, monoplanes  and later, submersible pumps for watering orchards. In 1949 two-year old Ken,  the son of the youngest brother, contracted juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, leaving him bound to a wheelchair for most of his life. Told that he would not live to see his third birthday, Ken's mother took him home and his father, Candido, invented a pump to give his son pain-relieving hydrotherapy treatments at home. That hydrotherapy pump led to what is known as the Jacuzzi® Brand today. After a long and successful working life Ken died in 2017 aged 77.
