So many reasons to get off the Interstate

Today's foto...what would it be? One honoring Pony Express riders -- I'm traveling part of their route to Sacramento -- or one of the monument marking the geographical center of the lower 48 states? Tough decision, that, especially since a handsome white chicken strutted up to greet us at the monument. (I still don't know why he was there.)

Later we stopped in Phillipsburg, Kansas, population 2,300+. After slurping and smacking our way through coffee and a doughnut from the Third Street Bakery and Sandwich Shop, we walked around the courthouse square. On speakers posted at the square, Hall and Oates were be-bopping about making my dreams come true.

That's when I saw this memorial to 9/11. I have not seen any of the remains of the World Trade Center, nor did I expect to see any here, today.
