Pumpkin Patch Day — Woohoo!

Last Sunday we stopped at Brookshire Farm, but every family in the county was there and the sun was bright and no shade to park the pups, so we thought we’d come back later.

Today was our later. A cloudy cool, almost cold, California Central Coast morning at Brookshire’s Pumpkin Farm. The farmer walked over, stood right next to me then explained the bumpiest, wartiest, most colorful pumpkins are the best to use for cooking — breads, muffins, and pies.

I did not tell the farmer that before using these babies to cook with, I am going to be using these beauties to decorate my porch and outdoor stairs for this current harvest holiday season.
