Road Trip
We left our tiny house this morning headed towards Mitchell, Fossil, Waterman and Spray. Dan’s father’s family has owned ranches in the area since 1873 - his great-great grandfather and brother who had immigrated from Italy to Alaska for the Gold Rush and eventually somehow found themselves in central Oregon owning thousands of acres of land on which they raised cattle. So we went out to check on the ranches….one of which (18,000 acres) is still in the family.
In our travels today - maybe 150 miles - we saw rain, sleet, hail and snow! We saw cows, horses, deer, wild turkeys, an eagle and magpies. We drove down a very long gravel road to see the ranches and ate all kinds of not-good-for-you snacks.
