Old Fenceline

Remnants of this old fence line run along the edge of the field and the marsh, then disappear and reappear in the woods and overgrown thickets I don't know how far back. It's curious to think about what the area looked like when everything was cleared out enough for this fence to be strung up. I suspect it dates back to a time when channels were cut in local marshes to drain them in an attempt to grow hay. Guess that didn't work out so great.
