Blackness
Weighed down with a heavy ‘Sunday feeling’ it even being still Saturday we pushed out through fog and rain to the Firth. Blackness castle was silently reproachful at full tide and the woman in the car park asked a lift to be free of the dreich. We sauntered over The Crossing at 40mph and slipped down to the the North Queensferry waterfront. The fog lifted and it brightened. Redshank and what looked like a Whimbrel lifted the day.
It’s always hard leaving, harder still as the leaves fall, seasons turn and God knows what or who comes next. Betwixt and between more than ever.
Early wheels up tomorrow.
