Wildflower Proto-meadow

A dull grey day for a first visit to Cumbria Wildlife Trust's Gosling Sike property with Debbie. It turned out to be a fascinating day on a small diverse reserve, with farmland, wetland and garden set on the edge of the Carlisle urban boundary. The highlight was visiting the wildflower nursery which grows tens of thousands of native wildflowers for habitat restoration projects across Cumbria . In partnership with Kew it collects seed for the millenium project.
Later we walked around the Lost Words garden and scrumped a couple of fallen apples cold and juicy with a tang of autumn.
