Sunny Intervals

.. and thankfully the battering wind died down overnight.

A morning walk with C and the Megs was almost too warm as the sun unexpectedly broke through.   We lingered around the mouth of the Dysynni enjoying the peace and the dogs pretty much ran themselves out.  

The sunshine lasted long enough for me to catch a few minutes in the greenhouse, the latest perfect beauty is this Crocus goulimyi 'Mani White'.  It's a pure white form that arose in cultivation although there are white forms in the wild.   The white gene is recessive and often misses in the first generation of plants raised from a white form but reappears among the second generation down the line.  I tested this out around thirty years ago with this form, about 30% of the second generation were white.  The experiment took about six years from collecting the seed.

Mostly I've been making up seed orders this afternoon apart from a trip to the allotment to plant some spinach thinnings brough back from Shropshire and an hour cleaning at work at sunset.  Back to Cafe work tomorrow.
