Millau Viaduct
When Forrest entered Les Templiers at the beginning of the year, signing up for the 100K Endurance Trail, I got excited at the prospect of supporting him, as I did last year. The event starts from Millau, home of the one of the most spectacular bridges in the whole world. It wasn't long before I was drooling over shots of the race and the bridge and was tempted to enter myself, opting for the somewhat shorter Marathon du Lorzac.
Today was registration, before our races tomorrow. I got some idea of the vast scale of this event. Trail running is big in France. I'm feeling that buzz of old and the pre-race aches and pains, the body recoiling in anticipation!
On the way back to our gite we took a back road and discovered the extraordinary village of Peyre, built into the side of a cliff. There is even a troglodytic church. Of all the pictures I took of the Millau Viaduct today - of which there were very many - this was my favourite, from near the underground church in Peyre. The scale of this structure is incredible.
