Out for a walk earlier, I saw several startlingly plump magpies fluttering meaningfully around local gardens...perching mysteriously on gate and fence with an air of unsquawked purpose. Were they looking for juicy worms, low hanging fruit or just suggestible householders that they could hypnotise with their little beaky eyes as the first stage in a new bird--o-pocalypse? Only time will tell....
