Pirn Hill

Cousin F travelled down from Edinburgh to spend the day with Bertie and I. We chatted for hours on end, catching up on family news and putting the world to rights. In between showers we took Bertie for a walk up Pirn Hill which was just a hop, skip and a jump from where N and I were staying.
The hill has the remains of an Iron Age fort and in recent years it has been recognised as a visitor attraction as it provides excellent views in all directions, including along the Tweed valley. Seven square stone cairns have been constructed, each topped by a carved stone slab depicting different aspects of the history of the area.
As we saw the dark clouds gathering we beat a hasty retreat downhill and enjoyed a coffee and more chat until F had to catch her bus back to Edinburgh.
