Suomenlinna Church
Suomenlinna Church was built as a Russian Orthodox Garrison Church in 1854. Its exterior was altered at the beginning of Finnish rule and itw as converted into an Evangelical-Lutheran church. The steeple doubles as a lighthouse.
In this image is the church on the left, and the light that goes up inside the dome in the interior - both worthy of a blip!!
We spent the day in a Unesco Heritage Site on the island of Suomenlinna with Jaana and Sari. Had a great time, although it was very cold. The Mistress wore wool, but I had nothing to keep me warm - its a wonder my bits didnt freeze off!
Afterwards we went to downtown Helinski, had lunch then went and caught the tram to the Church in the Rock. Another great day.
Off to Munich tomorrow!
