Shelter

Fine after yesterday's flu jab until late in the evening, when I was a bit achy. An hour later I ached all over, had a high temperature, and felt rather dizzy just for good measure. Stupidly didn't take any paracetamol, and once in bed couldn't raise the energy to get out and fetch some, so I had a fitful night's sleep. Woke this morning with a banging headache!

A couple of paracetamol and two cups of coffee later, I was awake and almost back to normal, and we decided on an afternoon walk at Allen Banks, near Haydon Bridge. It's a lovely circular walk through ancient woodland in a gorge by the River Allen, and not too strenuous. The leaves on the chestnuts and beech trees had just started to change into their autumn colours. Recent heavy rain meant that the river was fast flowing, and there were lots of streams running down the hillside (extras) that hadn't existed in the Spring, when we were last there. Someone had constructed this shelter in the woods.

On the way back a meal at the Redesdale Arms, and then home for a relaxing evening watching an episode of Karen Pirie.
