Little Egret #90
What started out as a quite disappointing visit to RSPB Burton Mere, ended up being a good one, especially if you like egrets and herons :)
We walked to the farthest hide before we saw anything much of interest and it was warm, but really quite windy.
On arrival we could see the ponies grazing around the edge of the pool in front of the hide along with 4 cattle egrets. Cattle egrets used to be quite rare, even when I started birding around 7 years ago, but now we get to see them quite often at a number of sites locally.
They were soon joined by 2 little egrets and a heron, although the little egrets didn't seem to want to share their space and came much closer to the hide for some hunting. The one in my blip today caught two little fish whilst we were there.
There were also 2 Great White egrets on the far side of the hide that were nice to see.
See extras for a couple more egret shots.
Tonight, I have a camera club zoom presentation so might not get around to looking at your blips until tomorrow. But then that's not unusual for me :)
