Legend and hero

This is Jane.

Jane is a legend, a hero and a very courageous lady.

The Sherriff 10k road race this morning has been renamed in memory of Jane's husband, who was taken from this life in a random attack by a man with a glass bottle.

It is easy to do nothing. It is much harder to have to courage to stand up and say "This is wrong", especially when you are a lone voice and people aren't listening.

But Jane has that courage and the support of others Bottle Stop was launched in 2012.

Bottle Stop quite simply wants an end to glass bottles in late night bars and clubs.

Why? Because it will mean no-one else has to go through what Jane has endured.

Bizarrely at the football match I attended yesterday pints of beer were served in plastic glasses but bottled beer was in glass bottles.

I'm sure if just one brewery started the ball rolling the others would soon follow.
