Sunday: Maya Beach

We were up very early so were already on the beach at 7am, reading our books. I’m a firm believer in matching your book to your reading environment so my current reading, a biography of Tolstoy, steeped in the Russian steppes is entirely appropriate.

We left mid morning for the drive back to Belmopan, stopping off at a few places en route (including Maya Beach, where this photo was taken).  It does look idyllic, as does yesterday’s photo, but plastics and huge amounts of sargassum are definitely a problem.

Barney coped very well with the tin opener while we were away.  We found him to be hale and hearty on our return.

And one good reason to return to Placencia - we both had good haircuts while we were there.  It’s definitely one of the most stressful things about moving.  It was only in our last week in Ottawa, and thanks to a different hairdresser, that I managed to shed the mullet I was sporting as a result of my first two haircuts there.
