Why the Tohono O’odham language is an important part of Pima County

Notice that there are three languages on the ‘I Voted’ sticker. Besides English and Spanish, there is Tohono O’odham. The Pima County Recorder, elected two years ago, is the first Native American to serve in elected office. She is a member of that Tribe. Over 40% of county land is designated as Tribal. We have some super wack-a-doodles running in Arizona, including for our four most important offices (Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General and U.S.Senator)

The propositions are crazy, too. The Legislature submissions are focused on limiting voting and citizen initiatives. The citizen initiatives include limiting interest rates on medical expenses, revealing dark money contributions and making in-state college/university tuition available for any student who has received accredited education in the state for at least two years, regardless of immigration status. That’s huge.
