Rhins of Galloway

Today's the day . . . . . . . . . . to go to the lighthouse

Off again on another little overnight break - this time to Port Patrick and the Mull of Galloway.

This is the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse to be found at Scotland’s most southerly point, at the end of a narrow peninsula with stunning views in every direction.  It was designed by Robert Stevenson (Grandfather of R L Stevenson, the famous Scottish writer) and first lit in 1830. It was automated in 1987 but the land around it was bought by the Mull of Galloway Trust in 2013 and it's possible to climb to the top of it.

After that we drove on to Logan Gardens - one of our most favourite places.  Even at this late stage in the year, it was still full of interest (see extra).  The weather has turned a bit stormy - but all is well because we're settled into a nice warm corner of Port Patrick.  I've been watching the waves crashing into the harbour wall far down below us . . . . . . . .
