River Tweed
How is it we always end up in Peebles?
The plan was to investigate Whitmuir, having heard that the café and or shop might now be open. A browse round the antique shop proved interesting but there was no café to lubricate parched throats.
Not to worry, a visit to Dawyck was long overdue - however, four cars preceded us into the drive and we caught up with the eight BMW sports cars that had overtaken us a little earlier to add to the full carpark.
So we did what we always do and continued to Peebles, for lunch in the Oven Door and a potter round the shops.
Photo is from the bridge over the Tweed, looking upstream towards the cauld. In general the autumn colours are not yet well-developed, although trees of the Acer (Maple) genus are showing wonderful reds and golds.
