My 08 shunter came in the post this morning, what a little gem. I have a Hornby 08 in green, and a Bachmann in department gray, and now another 08 in black.
British Railways adopted this style of shunter as far back as1948. A total of 996 units were constructed making it the most numerous of all British Locomotive classes. Some of these remain in use today whilst many others survive on preserved standard gauge lines in Britain , with over 60 locomotives preserved .
