Weird Science

Today was definitely a weird science day ... firstly, we saw 'Iron Man 3' at Cineworld and secondly, went to the National Museum, where I blipped an Atom Smasher.

Experiments to investigate atoms and atomic particles require huge pieces of equipment. This is one section of an accelerator used at the University of Edinburgh from 1950. This portion produced a very high voltage. This type of circuit was used by John Cockcroft & Ernest Walton in 1932.

Hope everyone has had a good Sunday.
