Unknown Piece
Met a friend for coffee this morning - it's been a while since we last had a chance for a quiet chat so lots to talk about. This afternoon I finished emptying the motorhome so it can be sold. If we don't sell privately we will trade it in with the dealer selling us our replacement; it was surprising the amount of 'stuff' we had there which had accumulated over the years.
Chiltern Chamber Choir this evening. Our current MD and founder of the choir is retiring so we are auditioning for a replacement. The committee has shortlisted four who will come along and take the first half of a rehearsal. One thing required was to rehearse an unknown piece - tonight's candidate had chosen Salve Regina by Poulenc which nobody had sung before. We all ended up really liking it.
I wonder what the candidate thought of us..... typical choir - sops haven't got their glasses or the right music, altos always talking, tenors too intense and basses always a bit behind. I jest, but those of you who sing in choirs will see the thread of truth. Next week another 'victim' to the podium.
