Yes, that's Ye Olde Englishe name for them, aparrently.
I took a short walk this morning out into the Lee Valley Park with the express intention of finding Rammey Marsh, and the exact spot where, in about a months time, there will be a large colony of Pyramidal and Bee orchids flowering. I found the Marsh and had a wander round but I wasn't able to locate the place where they are. Maybe if I fire off a few emails to the appropriate people then they can tell me.
As a consolation I encountered a small tree with gaudy pink blossom that the bees were feasting upon.
